In Foiled EP No. 2 John Ringhofer demonstrates that, with the right amount of love and care, even a self-proclaimed “sound collage” can hold its own against more polished contemporaries. It’s a dazzling experience that lends itself to be repeated, shared, and cherished. Read my full review here: wp.me/p1KLf0-hEFavorite track: Running Off With Balderdash.

= = = = = Note: Even though "Foiled EP N°2" has 10 tracks, all the songs on this EP are meant to run into each other like one continuous 11-minute song, with no audible spaces between them. So it sounds much much better as a download (streaming on Bandcamp is slightly cheap-sounding in comparison). = = = = = BONUS: Download includes a color .jpg of the collage-illustrated "Foiled EP N°2" song worksheet. This Half-handed Cloud "Foiled EP N°2" is a mixture of sound collage pieces John has worked on since living in Belgium (2011), + cassette-taped multi-track demos from there that didn't get re-recorded as songs for the "Flying Scroll Flight Control" album, + sounds for the Half-handed Cloud website (2004), + appropriated 4-track songs (going back to 2007) that were originally covers, or used in the Half-h touring show, etc, with new (2015) melodies, instrumentation, and Pauline letter lyrics integrated with them.
This EP also has a sister to it, "Foiled EP N°1," (released in September 2015), which sourced different material from the exact same periods. A big point of these EPs was not to overthink them too much or devote loads of time to fiddling with their sounds, so they're pretty lo-fi, scrappy, sketchy, and a little sparky.
